Grieg: Land Sighting

On Edvard Grieg's birthday 15 June 17.30pm 2018, the world's longest performance of his music started - Grieg-minute-by-minute. Norwegian Broadcasting Company (NRK) broadcasted 30 hours of live music from Edvard Grieg's home Troldhaugen, The Grieg Hall and from NRK's studio in Oslo. Landkjenning (Land Sighting) was premiered 17 May (Norwegian National Day) 1872 in Oslo, and the lyrics was written by Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. The lyrics focuses on the saga hero Olav Trygvason (King of Norway from 995 to 1000) who returned to Norway in year 995 with plans to build a church in Nidaros (Trondheim).
