Rondo in D-major

Mozart composed his Rondo in D-major in 1782, as an alternative final movement to his Piano Concerto No. 5 from 1773.

In 1781 he moved from Salzburg to Vienna, and it was important for him to gain a reputation and a subsequent secure income. His Piano Concerto No. 5 was already a success, and by adding the rondo it was made more suitable for the Viennese audience.
