Vasks: Viola Concerto

Latvian composer Peteris Vasks’ music is closely related to his country's battle for independence, and is coloured by the conflict between humanistic ideals and the real world's history filled ith violence and despair. The viola concerto was composed for, and premiered by, Maxim Rysanov in 2016.

Our own superb Ilze Klava is soloist in her compatriot's work.
