Prokofiev: Symphony No. 3
The symphony Prokofiev himself considered to be one of his best.
Prokofiev composed the third of his seven symphonies in 1928. He used musical material from the then unpubslished opera The fiery Angel. The symphony was premiered in Paris the year after, with Pierre Monteux as conductor. Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra has recorded the symphony with Andrew Litton (BIS).
