Svendsen: Romance

His most famous work.

Svendsen composed the romance in Christiania (Oslo) in 1881, justafter he had returned from an extended tour to London, Rome, Paris and Leipzig. Johan Halvorsen played the piece with the Concertgebouw-orchestra from Amsterdam when they visited Bergen for the great music festival in Bergen in 1898. Johan Svendsen himself conducted.
