Halvorsen: Bergensiana

The Town Song of Bergen.

Bergenssangen is the Town Song of Bergen. The lyrics were written in 1790 by the priest, politician and poet Johan Nordahl Brun. The melody is taken from an old French minuet, and Norwegian composer Johan Halvorsen (who has also been the orchestra's Chief Conductor) wrote orchestral variations on the theme.
