De Unges Konsert 2019 – Nikita Khnykin

De Unges Konsert Young Soloists Competition gets more intense every year as the finest young performers from Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland vie for the honour of appearing with the Bergen Philharmonic, as well as earning a career-boosting scholarship from the Kavli Trust. It is always an inspiration to experience the dedication and accomplishment of young artists.

Nikita Khnykin was born in 2003 in Norway. He is currently enrolled in the Young Talents program at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo (former teacher Marina Pliassova).

Despite his young age he has a remarkable list of achievements, including numerous honors, first prizes and Grand Prix on the national contests: Ungdommens musikkmesterskap, Midgård konkurranse, Nordstrand Rotary musikk konkurranse, Fjord Cadenza musikk konkurranse, Virtuos 2018 and on the international contests: Airola City Music Contest (Italy, 2014), Young Musician International Competition (Estonia, 2015), Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition (Austria, 2016), Steinway Piano Competition (Norway-Germany, 2016), The Young Piano (Chesh Republic, Prague Conservatoire, 2016), International Television Contest for Young Musicians “The Nutcracker” (Russia 2015), Copper International Competition (USA, 2018, diplom).

Nikita has received several prestigious scholarships. He is also actively involved in concert activity in Oslo, in other cities in Norway and in other countries. He participated in music festivals all throughout Europe (in Russia, Norway, Great Britain, Germany, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Estonia and Greece). He has performed as a soloist with several orchestras (Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Toppensymfonikerne Orchestra, BARDUS and others) with concerts of Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov and Grieg.

The integral part of his musical activity is the participation in the Chamber Music classes (trio/duets with clarinet and violoncello, with violin and violoncello). The Clarinet trio was involved in Norwegian-international mentor-talent program “Crescendo” in classical music in 2016. In 2016 Nikita was also invited to join the Prof. Hlinka Piano Academy, the three-year mentoring program targeting especially talented Norwegian piano students in 2017-2019.
